Your itinerary

March 16

You are arriving in Barcelona at 4pm, on flight BA484, scheduled to arrive at 4:05pm.

Upon arrival and after passport control, please direct yourselves towards the exit, where you will be met by your driver. Your driver is Manuel, and his number is +34 628 70 40 51.

You are staying at Enjoy BCN Gaudi Apartments, in a Superior 2 bedroom apartment. It is located at Av. de Gaudí, 14, Eixample, 08025 Barcelona, and their contact number is +34 933 00 22 11. Local tax (82.56€, in your case) needs to be paid upon check-in. You will also be asked for a 500€ damage deposit. To check-in, please access this link, where you will be asked to upload passports, and pay the local tax. Once done, they will send you a message with 2 codes; one to open the door of the building whilst the other one to pick up the keys from the lockbox on the ground floor.

To move around, Uber works quite well in big towns. There is also a local option called Free Now, which is catered to by local taxis, and works very similarly to Uber. You can donwload the app here. Please note that the service is not always immediately fulfilled, as it depends solely on availability. Taxis can also be hailed on the street, as long as their green light on the top is on. Payment can be done via cash or credit card. Metro is also a good option as it is totally safe and easy to use. Vending machines and signs are in English and it is fast and reliable. It can however get very crowded.

My top choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner around your apartment, are the following:

March 17

In the morning, you will be visiting Parc Güell. Entrance is scheduled for 9:30am, and you will be allowed any time until 10am. Transportation to the site is best done by taxi, but please remember that taxis are not always readily available so please account for some extra time, just in case. Once you are in the taxi, it should take no more than 15 minutes to get there. You can also go by metro, but the nearest stop is a 15 minute walk away. Taxis can only leave you at Carretera del Carmel entrance.

Once you are inside, you can stay as long as you want, but please allow for at least an hour, to get a good overview of the Parc.

From there, I suggest going to Passeig de Gràcia. It’s probably best to take a taxi (there is a taxi stop right outside the entrance of Carretera del Carmel).

Passeig de Gràcia is a fantastic promenade lined with stunning modernist buildings, and home to all the luxury shops. It is also a great place to have lunch.

For such, I recommend going to El Nacional. With a beautiful decoration, it has differentiated spaces from which you can choose. They each have their menu visible, for you to review before sitting down. It is located at Pg. de Gràcia, 24 Bis, Eixample, 08007 Barcelona

After lunch, and since you are in the area, it’s the perfect moment to visit Casa Batlló. Your tickets are for 3pm, and they allow for changes, in case you want to change the time – but please note that changes have to be requested and they may not be immediate (for immediate changes, it has to be done in person at the ticket booth). The visit is self-guided through an interactive itinerary, with immersive lights, sound, and storytelling, designed to make the house feel alive. The duration is around 75 minutes altogether.

It is located at Passeig de Gracia, 43. Please note that all the staff are neurodivergent.

You have tickets for the 7pm showing of El Amor Brujo, at Palau de la Música, located at C/ Palau de la Música, 4-6, Ciutat Vella, 08003 Barcelona. Your seats are in the first floor, row 2, seats 9 and 11. Please arrive in advance since entrance will not be allowed once the show has started.

For dinner, I suggest going to Casa Lolea, quite close to Palau de la Música. They take seatings all day long, so you could have dinner both before or after the show. It is located at Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt, 49, Ciutat Vella, 08003 Barcelona. Reservations are a must here.

March 18

You have tickets to visit Sagrada Familia at 9am. Recently, the slot between 9 and 11am is meant to be a silent one, to allow for calm contemplation and prayers. Visits can still be done – they just require visitors to keep their tone down. Upon entrance, you may be required to show your passport to prove your identity. It is located at Carrer de Mallorca, 401, Eixample, 08013 Barcelona. There are different entrances, so please look for the signs to see which one is open for visitors at that time.

Before entering, you will need to download an app with the audioguide, but please make sure you bring your own headphones, since, they are not provided. The duration of the self guided tour is estimated to be an hour, but you are welcome to stay as long as you like. Once you have the app, you have to introduce your booking code, which is 93434848, and if asked for an email, use susana.avila@gmail.com.

After this, you’ll be visiting the Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau. It is located at Carrer de Sant Antoni Maria Claret, 167, Horta-Guinardó, 08025 Barcelona. Entrances are possible every 30 minutes, and previously acquired tickets do require you to stick to a certain time. Since these do not sell out so quickly, I would suggest holding off buying the tickets just yet, and letting me know about which time you’ll want a couple of days before. The self-guided visit can be complemented with an audioguide. The historical photos, images of details and videos you’ll find in this multimedia tool will allow you to immerse yourself in the history of Sant Pau and the artistic characteristics of the Art Nouveau Site. The visit takes about 75-90 minutes, depending on your pace.

Both sites are quite close to your apartment, so any of the recommendations I made for that area will work today.

You have a cooking class at the Paella Club at 5pm – their Appetizer version. It is located at Carrer del Doctor Dou, 5. Their number is +34 672 272 276.

This 4-course workshop lasts approximately 2.5 hours and is a great introduction to the world of Paella and Spanish cuisine.

Each cooking station is shared by one-two guests and includes its own utensils and ingredients for each paella to promise you a fully immersive and dynamic experience. Depending on the size of the class, several varieties of paella will be made at each class so that all of the guests are able to learn how to create and taste more than one type of paella. You will have:

  • Cava welcome drink

  • Introduction to “Pa amb tomàquet”

  • Seasonal Entree

  • Paella workshop

  • Catalan Wine Pairing (up to 5 glasses of wine) – Dessert

  • Digital recipe book

March 19

Your group mosaic crash course will begin at 10am at Carrer dels Assaonadors, 10, Ciutat Vella, 08003 Barcelona.

Create your mosaic in Antonio Gaudí’s mosaic style. Your artisan master will show you the basics of ‘Trencadis’, the revolutionary technique invented by Antonio Gaudí which can be found all over Barcelona’s main monuments: La Pedrera, Casa Batlló, Parque Güell, Sagrada Familia, La Torre Bellesguard, Palau Güell, Colonia Güell, etc…

You will learn the basics of the technique in 2 hours, learn to handle tools, choose your design and work out your first masterpiece of trencadis – mosaic: a coaster, a place mat, a mirror, a photo frame, an elephant or other object.

Please take into account that the artwork produced at the end of the workshop will have to be grouted by staff. Usually, the artwork is left in the workshop and picked up later in the afternoon or the next morning if the workshop had taken place in the afternoon.

The workshop is located in the old town (Gothic and Born districts), which definitely deserve a walk. So I do suggest you wander through its alleys and have lunch there. There are a lot of cute little tapas places, such as:

Please arrive by 05:45 PM at the meeting point:

We’ll meet at Carrer de Duran i Bas, 11 in front of Palau de la Balmesiana, a light brown, stone building with an arched door. It’s across the street from the Plaça del Vuit de Març, where you’ll also see a small playground and a red bike station. Your guide will be holding a red Devour Tours bag and a Devour sign. The tour will start at 6pm.

A local family-owned tapas bar is your first stop on this exploration of Barcelona’s history. With strong ties to the local community, this place has been serving drinks for well over 100 years. Sip two Catalan aperitif classics – cava and vermouth – while sampling some delicious local fare to get things started. Next, it’s time to dig deeper into the roots of Barcelona’s culture and heritage. You’ll take a 50-minute history walk through the narrow backstreets of the Gothic Quarter, and hear more about the city’s fascinating past. From Ancient Roman ruins to the political upheaval of the 20th century, the city will come to life through stories told by your expert guide. Afterwards, you’ll wind your way towards a true Barcelona institution. This is one of the city’s best-kept secrets and regularly visited by some of Spain’s most celebrated chefs. For almost 80 years, this tapas bar has boasted the same menu consisting of just four standout dishes, proof that delicious food doesn’t need to be complicated. To end the tour, you’ll visit a historic tapas bar that opened in the early 20th century for a sit-down meal of various Spanish specialties. In this former bohemian paradise, you’ll sample a range of family-style sharing plates accompanied by local red wine, ending the meal with a traditional Spanish dessert.

March 20

You will meet Elvira at 10:10am at Buenas Migas, located at Pl. d’Espanya, 6, 8, Sants-Montjuïc, 08014 Barcelona. This is a nice place to buy take away food, since there are very few options in Montserrrat. The train station is very close. You will get to the top via cable car.

During the tour You will visit the Monastery, The Black Madonna and the Boys Choir (if they are singing). You can also taste the monastery’s homemade liquor, the pastry and other local farm products such a popular regional dessert in the farmers market. Elvira’s phone number is +34 644 89 33 10.
